#best09 Day 5 I have run out of witty things to say

Day 5 Best Night Out: Did you have a night out with friends or a loved one that rocked your world? Who was there? What was the highlight of the night?

Halloween night was cold, wet and damn well possibly one of the best nights I’ve ever spent in the city.

My sister, my girl friend, my closest friend and myself each went as characters from Clue. More characters were supposed to join us but they pussied out because of a little rain… ok it rained a lot.

It wasn’t just us though. We were also joined by my friend’s girl friend and three other friends… although I didn’t really know the pirate chick.

We went to see the parade in The Village but as you can see that was easier said than done.

In the end though despite (or maybe because of) the rain we end up having a great time and my sister even fulfilled her reason for going and got her picture taken with some drag queens.

#best09 Day 4 Slow and steady wins the race

I realized I’m doing this whole #bestof09 #best09 thing and never really mentioned the source of it all. Actually as far as I’m concerned the source is thatgirlallie.com because that’s where I first heard of it the concept actually comes from Gwen Bell. Anyway, now onto more nostalgia.

Day 4 Book What book - fiction or non - touched you? Where were you when you read it? Have you bought and given away multiple copies?

I find it amusing to be right this right now only because just last week I and three other friends started a book club. So I’m going to put up our first book for this list.

It’s not a new book by any means but Max Brooks’ World War Z was by far the best book I read this year. I picked the book up two Sundays ago. That Monday I read the first thirty or so pages of the book during a break at work and was pleased. It was a decent read and slightly entertaining. The following day again during my break I started reading and again didn’t think too much of it, that is until I reached page… 36 I believe it was?

The book is essentially just a bunch of survivors’ stories of a decades long zombie war. It’s one of these interviews that changed the way I looked at the book. I won’t go into any detail except to say that it’s how Israel reacted to the looming threat.

That day while reading that particular “intervew” was the first day in I can’t tell you how many years since I’ve felt myself drawn into a book. I did no work what so ever and read 180 pages and the remaining 150 the following day. I can’t remember the last time I read something with so much passion and intrigue let alone in such a short amount of time.

Disobediance, in the eyes if anyone who has read history, it’s man’s original virtue. It is through disobediance that progress has been made, through disobediance and through rebellion.

Day 3 Best Article
There was no real article for what happened in Iran. No press was allowed. The closest thing I can put up to an actual article is this #iranelection
And yes, I’m aware that picture’s a fake. It still does a decent job of conveying a message though.

#bestof09 Day 2 I’m getting there

Best Restaurant:

I don’t recall the date exactly but sometime in mid July I and most of my closest friends took a trip to a wee castle in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. It was the first time back to Medieval Times since having been in middle school. I must say, going when you’re really young is fun and all but it’s not until you’re old enough to (legally) drink that it truly becomes a blast. We were loud, rowdy and obnoxious. The only difference between us and the group of kids sitting near us was that we left one hell of a tip.

The only person in this picture without an over-sized 32 oz. drink is my seventeen year old sister. To bad, so sad. Maybe next time.

#bestof09 Day 1 It’s a bit late sue me.

Day 1 Best trip:

I’ve been to Virgina with a few friends a few times in the last year or so but I think the last time I went this past March was my favorite regardless of the weather.

You can't really tell that it's cold in windy from the picture.

We were down south and it was spring so of course that meant it was cold and raining. We ended up spending most of our time inside. After a couple of days of this one of us, I’m not really sure who, decided that building a fort would be a great idea.

Fort Killroy

Four fully grown men (I use the phrase very loosely) screwing around for two hours trying to figure out how to get a Snuggie, some blankets and a few sticks to stay up.

Only to have it trampled upon by our recently woken hostess. Mind you it was about three in the afternoon and she was still in her jammies.
